Security beefed up at Chaman border, says Langau

“We are ready to deal with any untoward situation,”

QUETTA:

Balochistan Home Minister Mir Zia Langau has said that Pakistani forces are on alert and have sent additional troops to the Chaman border after Taliban took control of Spin Boldak district in the southern Kandahar province.

Spin Boldak district is next to the border with Chaman.

“We are ready to deal with any untoward situation,” the home minister said while addressing a news conference on Thursday. Langau said that change is taking place in Afghanistan which is their internal affair, hoping that India’s resources would not be used against Pakistan like in the past. “We pray that the new changes will be pleasant for both the countries,” he said.

“Talking to angry Baloch leaders is a matter of the state,” Langau said, adding that giving task for reconciliation to SAPM Shahzain Bugti is an important progress.

However, he said that no meeting or consultation was held with Bugti at the provincial level. “The provincial government will provide full support to Bugti,” he said. He said that recent monsoon rains have affected six districts, adding that a fund of Rs130 million has been released to all the districts.

“The Provincial Disaster Management Authority team is ready to face any situation. Delivery of goods to affected areas is under way,” he added.
