Police register case, launch hunt for suspects

A young woman was allegedly abducted and gang raped in the city on Monday.

The 22-year-old victim who went to buy medicine was assaulted on gunpoint by the suspects.

Police began searching for the alleged rapists after registering a case against them.

A stand had been taken in the case filed by the daughter of Haider Ali, a resident of 202RB, Bhaiwala that she was living with her grandfather Muhammad Yusuf in Adeel Town, 202RB, Bhaiwala. The victim’s parents died in her childhood.

She was going to buy her sister's medicine during the afternoon when two armed suspects Owais, a resident of 202RB, and his unidentified accomplice, came on a motorcycle. The suspects abducted the woman at gunpoint near Paracha factory gate and took her to dry port Chak Jhumra. From there the suspects took the woman to a mansion near Khusht kiln where they allegedly gang-raped her on gunpoint.

The complainant told police that among the suspects, she can identify the accomplice of Owais once she sees them.

The victim added that the accused Owais and his unidentified accomplice also physically assaulted her during the gang-rape.

The victim’s health deteriorated after the incident and the suspects dumped the young woman on Ghona Road in the wee hours of the day.

The alleged rapists then fled the crime scene.

Millat Town Police registered a case under section 376 PPC and started searching for the suspects.

Sexual violence against women was rampant across the province.

On July 7, a woman was sexually assaulted in Chak Jhumra.

The wife of Muhammad Arshad came from Okara to see her brother Firdous Tufail, a resident of suburban village 471 GB. She used to work in homes to make ends meet for her children.

On July 5, a milkman Zulqarnain Haider alias Babar, who came to her house to deliver milk, tricked her into offering work in three or four houses and called her to Pul Nehar Ashrafabad from where he took the woman with him. At sunset, the suspect took the woman to the fields of 471 GB and raped her.

On the same day, a suspect identified as Ghulam Bheek, Irshad alias Chhada who had entered the house of Shahida Parveen, a resident of 272 JB on Jhang Road, tried to rape her, which she thwarted by making noise.

On July 1, a 26-year-old woman, who recently returned to Pakistan from England to attend her father’s funeral, alleged that she was sexually assaulted by her close family friend in Lahore.

Faizan, son of her family friend, sexually assaulted her while she was staying at their home in Wahdat Colony of the provincial capital.

The victim had moved to Faizan’s residence in the cantonment area after her stepmother reportedly kicked her out of their home.

On June 23, an elderly woman was subjected to torture and sexual assault by influential people in Muzaffargarh to avenge her son’s love marriage.

The incident took place within the limits of Alipur Police Station in Fatehpur, where Nasir's in-laws, who were enraged over his love marriage to their daughter, kidnapped, tortured and tried to rape his mother.

The accused not only tortured the 50-year-old woman but also tore down her clothes, dragged her and burned her half-naked body with cigarette butts.

Reportedly, the heinous crime was committed by in-laws of the victim’s son as a revenge for his love marriage.
