Model found dead at house in DHA

Police claim unidentified assailants strangled woman to death and fled

LAHORE:

A model was found dead at her residence in Lahore’s Defence B area under mysterious circumstances, police said on Sunday.

According to the police report, unidentified persons strangled the woman to death.

Police said that Nayab Nadeem, 29, was living alone in a house at DHA Phase 5 area when her step brother Muhammad Ali Nasir came to her house and found her naked body. He reported the matter to police who reached the spot and sent the body to a mortuary for postmortem.

There were some marks on the body and neck of victim as she was reportedly tortured and later strangulated to death by the unidentified assailants.

Police registered a case and were looking into the matter.

Reportedly, in the wee hours of Saturday, Nayab went to Gulberg to eat ice cream in a car with her stepbrother Nasir. Later, Nasir dropped his stepsister in Defence Phase 5 and left.

According to Nasir, Nayab did not pick up the phone when he called her later. When he went to Nayab’s house, she was not opening the door and her car was parked inside the house.

The window lattice of the washroom was broken, Nasir claimed. When he entered through the same window, his sister's naked body was lying in the TV lounge.

Police registered a case of murder on the complaint of the slain model’s stepbrother.

Defence B police station SHO Nayyar Nisar said the investigating police team suspected that the model was strangulated. “However, the postmortem report will reveal the exact cause of her death.”

The complainant Nasir stated that he visited his sister’s place around midnight and found her dead on the floor unclothed. “There were scars on my sister’s neck,” he said in a statement.

He added that he found a net of her bathroom window broken. He said he suspected that his sister was murdered and demanded that the perpetrators be brought to book.

Nasir further said he had been regularly visiting his sister’s house for a year to inquire about her wellbeing and provide her with groceries.

According to the complainant, Nayab lived alone in the house and she was not married. In May, a Pakistani-origin British woman was found dead at her rented house in Lahore's DHA.

The victim Maya, 25, was shot in the head. She had arrived from the UK two months prior to the incident where her family was settled.

A case was registered against two men over the woman's death.
