Meeting to discuss LPG policy today

All Pakistan LPG Distribution Organization not invited to the moot

ISLAMABAD:

The Petroleum Division has called an emergency meeting today (Sunday) to discuss the policy with regard to the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) with relevant stakeholders.

However, the All Pakistan LPG Distribution Organization has expressed its reservations over not inviting its representatives in the meeting and alleged that the federal government wants to draw a policy beneficial only to the three companies importing the LPG via sea routes.

Representatives of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra), the Pakistan Petroleum Exploration and Production Companies Association, the Pakistan LPG Marketers Association, the Pakistan State Oil (PSO) and the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) will attend the meeting.

The Pakistan Arab Refinery Limited managing director, The Oil Companies Advisory Council (OCAC) chairman, the Engro Terminal chairman, the LPG Distributors Association chairman, the LPG Industries Association and the LPG marketing companies representatives will also participate in the moot.

In a letter written to Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Petroleum Tabish Gohar, the All Pakistan LPG Distribution Organization has protested the Power Division’s decision not to invite it in the meeting.

It said the association represents 60% of the stakeholders in the LPG supply chain. The association also expressed amazement at calling a meeting on Sunday.  It demanded that the government invite the association after issuing prior notice and that such a meeting should be held on weekdays.

It also demanded that the agenda of such a meeting should also mention its objective. The association alleged that the government wants to benefit the three companies that import the LPG via sea.
