Bollywood star Salman Khan is no stranger to controversies. The Dabangg star has yet again been booked in a cheating case. According to The Indian Express, the Chandigarh Police has summoned Salman, his sister Alvira Khan and six others following a complaint lodged by a local businessman.

Apart from the actor and his sister, those called in for an inquiry on July 13 to verify facts of the complaint include the Being Human Foundation CEO and officials of Style Quotient (licensee of Being Human Jewellery), police said on Thursday.

Arun Gupta, an Indian businessman, has claimed that he opened an exclusive store under the brand “Being Human Jewellery, by spending INR200 million in 2018”. He said he was assured by Salman and the others that they would provide all kinds of backup and also promote the brand. However, according to his complaint, neither promotion commitments were fulfilled nor goods were delivered to him for his outlet.

He said he repeatedly contacted company officials but they refused to keep their promise. The complainant stated that the office which was to be used for collecting stock was also lying shut since February 2020. Gupta mentioned that he was told that Salman would be present for the inauguration of the showroom but his brother-in-law Aayush Sharma showed up instead. Gupta demanded the registration of an FIR in the case.

Earlier, Salman was arrested in 1998 for hunting two blackbucks in Kankani village near Jodhpur. At that time, a case under the Arms Act was registered against him and the court had asked him to submit his arms licence. The Bollywood superstar gave an affidavit in the court in 2003, saying that he had lost the licence. He also lodged an FIR at the Bandra police station in Mumbai in this connection. However, the court later came to know that Salman’s arm licence was not lost, but had been submitted for renewal. Public prosecutor Bhavani Singh Bhati had then demanded that a case of misleading the court should be filed against the actor.
