Court rioting: IBC begins action against lawyers
The Islamabad Bar Council (IBC) has formally initiated action against the lawyers involved in the attack on the chief justice's block of the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
IBC Vice Chairman Zulfiqar Abbasi said that they received 34 applications against the lawyers and launched action under the Legal Practitioners and Bar Councils Act. He expressed these views in a meeting with members of the IHC Journalists Association (IHCJA) on Thursday.
Abbasi said the lawyers have been provided with a copy of the complaint and the final decision would be announced after the hearing, the first of which will be conducted on Saturday (tomorrow).
The official informed that they have written a letter to the IHC registrar for appointing a focal person. He told that the bar council could not conduct action against the law practitioners as the IHC has taken notice of the case.

He added that they have sought details and evidence against the lawyers involved in the attack for starting proceedings.
Moreover, Abbasi said that the memberships of lawyers could not be suspended based on allegations and speculations, adding that the council condemned the attack on the high court and is also playing its role as a regulator.
He further expressed that it was wrong to assume that the council did not conduct legal action against the lawyers involved in the IHC attack.
