MULTAN:
A five-year-old girl was raped in Multan on Friday evening. According to police officials, local residents caught the accused rapist after they heard the child’s screams and beat him.
Bilal Nagar resident Nadeem Farooq’s five-year-old daughter went to a shop to buy candy. An eyewitness told police officials that he saw Zeeshan offer to take the child home and thought nothing of it. “We thought he was a relative and he said that he was taking the girl back to her father,” Ashraf said. Residents said that Zeeshan took the girl to back alley and raped her. “We heard the child screaming and a dozen people went and recovered her. We caught Zeeshan red handed and called the police,” Ashraf, Zahid Sultan and Mujahid Ali said.
Zeeshan was severely beaten by the crowd until police officials came and recovered the accused. Police ordered a DNA test of the child and has sent her to Nishtar Hospital. “The child has been raped and we have sent DNA samples to the lab for results,” said Nishtar Hospital Dr Raza Alvi. Shah Rukn Alam police have registered a case and taken Zeeshan into police custody.
The names of the victim’s family have been changed to protect her identity
