TANK:

Three children were killed in a toy bomb explosion in Tank district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) province on Friday.

Police told The Express Tribune that three children were playing and swimming in a nullah in Mehsud Korona in the jurisdiction of Shaheed Murid Akbar police station where they found a an explosive device or toy bomb.

“These children took the device to a nearby shop and started playing with it where it suddenly exploded, killing all the three children on the spot,” said a police official, adding that they were brothers.

“The unfortunate kids have been identified as Wahid, 12, Nasir, 7 and Farman, 5 all brothers,” said the official, adding that soon after the bloody explosion, Rescue 1122 reached the spot and shifted the children to nearby hospital but they were already dead.

The incident caused widespread panic among the local residents of the area.

“This is not the first incident of its kind in the area as such bloody incidents often occur. The nullah they were swimming and playing is coming from Waziristan where explosives are buried in the ground on a large scale,” said the police official, adding that such explosives are shifted to Tank with the flash floods after the heavy down pour and cause bloody accidents.

Police registered an FIR and started investigation.
