The Islamabad police have distributed Rs3.15 million among 35 investigation officers (IOs) and muharars to make the investigation process more transparent, merit-oriented and achieve a high conviction rate.
The force distributed the amount among the detectives to ensure the availability of funds for quick and transparent investigation often marred by lack of capital resources. The money was distributed among the IOs at a ceremony held at the office of the DIG (operations) on Wednesday.
Cheques amounting to Rs2.15 million were distributed among 35 IOs and muharars while cheques of Rs1 million were given to muharars under the head of food for the detainees.
Deputy Inspector General of Police (Operations) Afzal Ahmad Kausar lauded Senior Superintendent of Police (Investigation) Attaur Rehman for arranging the sum. He said that all IOs investigating murder, terrorism and robbery cases were being given the investigation cost. He said that the amount has also been released to bear the three-time meal expense of the detainees under investigation.
Rahman maintained that all measures were being taken to ensure merit in the police department. He hoped that IOs will work diligently after getting the required costs.
