LRH reopens OPD after three months

Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) Peshawar has reopened its Out Patients Department (OPD) after three months due to the decrease in the Covid-19 cases in the province.

Around 500 patients will be checked at the OPD each day in order to properly maintain social distancing. All the elective services were banned at the hospital when in March the hospital was dedicated to only Covid-19 patients.

“The decision has been taken after a considerable decrease in the number of Covid-19 cases in the province as evident from the number of occupied beds at the hospital,” said an official of the LRH, adding that after this a decision was taken to restore the OPD services at the largest hospital of the province.

“Around 10 departments at the OPD are being reopened initially and only 500 tokens will be issued for checkup each day. Around 100 of them will be for gynecology patients and the rest of 400 will be for other disciplines. Only serious patients will also be admitted and their necessary operations will also be performed,” he said, adding that Covid-19 related SOPs will strictly be followed and no patient will be allowed to come to OPD without facemask.

“There are at least 100 patients of Covid still under treatment at the hospital and no risk could be taken in this regard,” he said.
