FAISALABAD:
A Christian youth was shot in the Sargodha Road police station precincts late on Thursday night.
According to the police officials, Chak No7JB resident Pervaiz Masih was waiting for a bus near Crescent Mills Chowk when two unidentified motorcyclists opened indiscriminate fire on him. As a result, Pervaiz received severe bullet injuries and was rushed to hospital where he died. Police officials have been unable to trace the youth’s killers and said that they could not uncover any motive behind the shooting. Police have registered a case against unknown accused and a special team has been constituted to investigate the cause behind the killing.
A police team said that investigation officials are collecting evidence from relatives and friends of the deceased and that police officials had gathered statements from people who were present near the crime scene.
Police officials said that it was likely Pervaiz was shot over money. “They were most likely trying to rob him and he resisted,” inspector Ashraf Virk said.
