‘Youth to reap manifold benefits from KJP’
Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Youth Affairs Muhammad Usman Dar said the present government has launched a massive drive to sensitise the university students about the benefits of the Prime Minister’s Kamyab Jawan Programme (KJP) aimed at ensuring socio-economic empowerment of the youth through their skill development, financial inclusion, and civic and political engagement.
He was speaking at a certificate awarding and cheque distribution ceremony under the KJP held at the Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU). Dar said women could reap the benefits of KJP as 25 per cent of the total allocation was allocated exclusively for them. The role of women in national development was crucial, he added.
He said Prime Minister Imran Khan was keen to create massive employment opportunities for youth, adding the government would make all-out efforts to empower them.
The government, he added, is providing easy loans and arranging training programmes for youth to make them self-sufficient rather than rely on the government to provide jobs. They should start businesses and generate jobs for others too, he said.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister of State for Climate Change Zartaj Gul, said KJP is the PTI government's flagship programme for youth employment which was launched after massive consultation with international and national youth experts from public and private sectors. This programme, she said, is based on the three Es, which are employment, education and engagement.
She said the solution to all our problems lies in acquiring education and being economically empowered. She also emphasised the importance of giving women a higher status in society and ensuring they receive equal opportunities for education and employment so they participate fully in the national mainstream.
FJWU Vice-Chancellor Dr Saima Hamid, in her welcome address, said the KJP programme offers multiple opportunities for enhancing the skills of youth under different categories like ‘Skill for All: Hunermand Pakistan’ in which several categories have been defined.
She said the Fatima Jinnah Women University is a proud partner of the NAVTTC in conducting training related to artificial intelligence and robotics, advanced programming machine learning, system development and application.
She said 100 trainees were registered at FJWU and 80 trainees successfully passed the final examination. "Five of them have already started their own business," she added.
