RRUD project tendering process completed

Sapphire Bay will be developed over an area of 2,000 acres

The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has completed tendering process for phase-1 of the Ravi Riverfront Urban Development (RRUD) project.

Briefing to media on Tuesday along with Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Tuesday, LDA Vice Chairman S M Imran highlighted that under phase-1 of the project a Sapphire Bay will be developed over an area of 2,000 acres for which tendering process has been successfully concluded transparently.

The authority will build a barrage on over 3,000 acres beside the development of other amenities.

Development works have already been started on the project as per the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan, he maintained and added that the RRUD project would provide world-class housing infrastructure to residents.

He underscored that it would be one of its kind projects in the country, spreading over an area of 46 kilometres. It would offer international standard residential and commercial facilities, he indicated.

Responding to a question, he refuted that private developers were acquiring land in the area and highlighted that only the government is involved in land acquisition. The government is not funding this project through its resources but it is being financed on a public-private partnership model.
