'Chupke Chupke 2'? OKB responds to rumours
This year's Ramazan transmission was widely applauded by the audience for the much-needed light-hearted content. Ishq Jalebi, Chupke Chupke came out as the winners, leaving the audience in awe of the chemistry between the co-stars and the storyline.
As the shows drew to an end, rumours about sequels had begun. However, we now know certainly that no plans for the second season of Ayeza Khan and Osman Khalid Butt are in place. The protagonist of the show, OKB, recently took to Instagram and gave out a clarification on the matter.
Sharing a few photos of fan art, the Balu Mahi star wrote, "A lot of you are asking whether a second season of Chupke Chupke is in the works. As of yet, there is no news or development on that front." He went on to add, "If the writer is inspired to write a sequel and the channel content heads approve, only then will we - as actors - get to know if anything is happening."
Earlier, the playwright of the shows, Saima Akram Chaudhry, too issued a clarification on the same. “Dear fans, viewers and followers, I know you loved Chupke Chupke, Ishq Jalebi and Suno Chanda. I am grateful to all but it’s not possible for me to take your Instagram calls and talk [to] everyone,” the scriptwriter penned. “Please accept my apologies and don’t call directly. Trust me it’s too irritating and it is too unethical to call someone at midnight."
Earlier, speaking to The Express Tribune, Chupke Chupke director Danish Nawaz shared he surely never expected the response the show has garnered. "When we started shooting for Chupke Chupke, our goal wasn't to make something better than Suno Chanda but the result has been very fulfilling," he shared.
"The drama is written by the same playwright, Saima Akram Chaudhry, hence one would think it had similar tropes. However, I wholeheartedly believe that a massive responsibility also sits on the director's shoulders. Since it was a rom-com, I was in my comfort zone. I know the genre, I know comedy. That's why it turned out to be so special."
