Over 900 Covid cases detected in Sindh
Sindh reported over 900 fresh infections and six coronavirus deaths on Sunday. According to a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s House, 913 persons were diagnosed when 15,916 samples were tested for the contagion.
The provincial pandemic death toll and tally of infections rose to 5,020 and 317,648, respectively, with the recent cases.
Another 286 persons also recovered from the infection overnight, said CM Syed Murad Ali Shah, adding that this brought the total number of recoveries to 287,044.
There are 25,584 active cases in the province, said Shah. Of them, 24,532 patients are isolating at home, 22 patients are in isolation centres and 1,030 are admitted at different hospitals. The condition of at least 965 patients is stated to be critical including 73 shifted to ventilators, he added.
Of the 913 new cases, 409 belonged to Karachi. Of these, 180 were detected in East district, 81 in South, 55 in Central, 44 in Korangi, 43 in Malir and six in West district.
Meanwhile, Hyderabad reported 58 fresh infections, Sujawal 37, Jamshoro 34, Badin 30, Sanghar and Mirpurkhas each reported 26 new cases, Tando Muhammad Khan 25, Sukkur 23 and Tando Allahyar as many, Kashmore and Shikarpur 22 each, Nawabshah 21, Jacobabad 19, Thatta and Khairpur 17 each, Matiari 14, Dadu 13, Umerkot 10, Naushero Feroze nine, Ghotki seven and Larkana reported three new cases.
Meanwhile Sindh police said that as many as 6,457 police offices and officials have contracted Covid-19 so far and currently 25 policemen were under treatment.
As per Sindh government, 26 policemen have died of the pandemic so far.
