Covid snuffs out four more lives in Rawalpindi
Four more people died of Covid-19 in Rawalpindi, while 56 fresh were reported from the garrison city and 111 cases from the federal capital.
Further, the total district tally of coronavirus vaccination Wednesday reached 290,377 with the inoculation of 24,300 more persons against the deadly virus during the last 24 hours.
According to fresh data released by the District Health Authority, 22,754 health workers and 267,616 others, including senior citizens, have received their dose so far.
The report said that the district health authority has registered 56 new infections during the last 24 hours, including 49 of Rawalpindi and 3 from outside the district, while four people lost their battle of life.
It said of the new patients, 15 belonged to Rawal Town, 23 Potohar Town, four Rawalpindi Cantt, two Kotli, and one each to Gujar Khan, Taxila, Murree, Kalar Syeda, Kahuta, AJK, Attock, Haripur and Jehlum.
Presently, 95 confirmed patients are admitted to various facilities of the city, including 20 in Holy Family Hospital, 16 in Benazir Bhutto Hospital,33 in Institute of Urology, 20 in Fauji Foundation Hospital, four in Bilal hospital and one each in Hearts International and Akhtar Rukhsana Memorial Trust, it added.
The report elaborated that four patients were on the vent in critical condition, 37 on oxygen support and 102 in moderate condition.
Meanwhile, the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) said 133 new coronavirus cases were reported from the federal capital during the last 24 hours.
According to an NCOC official, as many as 111 cases were reported on Tuesday while 106 cases were reported on Monday. He said so far 80,662 cases had been reported in the Islamabad Capital Territory. About 748 patients had died and 72,739 recovered completely, he added.
Mass Vaccination Centre
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Dr Faisal Sultan on Wednesday visited the Mass Vaccination Center F-9 Park to monitor the services being offered to the citizens.
Talking to the media on the occasion, he said in order to enhance the vaccination coverage in the federal capital, the Mass Vaccination Center having 25 vaccination counters and 75 registration desks, was established at the F-9 Park to vaccinate 7,000 to 10,000 citizens against Covid-19 daily.
He said 100 trained vaccinators would remain on duty to provide standard services to the citizens at the centre. He asked the people to come to the centre for vaccination.
He said it was the responsibility of every eligible citizen to visit the vaccination centres and protect them against the coronavirus. Dr Faisal expressed satisfaction over the arrangements and available facilities at the centre for the senior citizens. He assured further improvements in the vaccination centres to properly guide the citizens. He said that keeping in view the interest of citizens for Covid vaccination, the staff and number of centres were being increased.
He said issues have been discussed with the management of hospitals concerned about receiving some complaints of citizens and assured to address all of them. Dr Faisal also met with citizens to know the exact situation and heard their concerns related to the corona vaccination. He urged the healthcare workers and those eligible to get vaccinated to protect themselves as well as their loved ones.
He said the government had completed training of vaccinators and other related staff while software had been developed for having daily figures of vaccination activities. He asked the citizens to send a text message at 1166 or enter their details on the National Immunisation Management System (NIMS) website. Once registered, the eligible citizens would be informed about the vaccine centre and the date of vaccination through a text message, he added.
Dr Faisal also visited the National Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine (NIRM) and received a briefing on the services being offered to the patients and the performance of doctors and other hospital staff.
