RAWALPINDI:

Ring Road Action Committee Chief Coordinator Syed Fayyaz Hussain demanded the formation of a judicial or parliamentary commission for the investigation of corruption exposed in the mega project in a presser held the other day.

They rejected the administrative committee to probe into the scandal and urged that a judicial or parliamentary commission should be formed and those affected should be made part of the commission too.

“The rates of the lands acquired for Ring Road should be revisited with the consultation of the landowners and a new map of the project should be sketched. The plan for the project should be devised in light of the recommendations of the commission,” members of the committee demanded.

They added that the residents of housing societies along GT Road and Link Road were given Rs2 million per kanal while the rates fixed for them were just Rs150,000 per kanal and warned to block all roads leading to Islamabad if their demands were not met.
