PESHAWAR:

The Provincial Doctors Association (PDA) has demanded of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government to make all the contract doctors permanent in the province.

Talking to The Express Tribune the PDA spokesperson Dr Saleem Yousafzai said that the K-P government has extended the contracts of all the contract-based doctors in the province which was indeed a welcome development but they are demanding for a long time now that all these doctors should be made permanent.

He said that in this regard a resolution has already been tabled in the provincial assembly by Awami National Party’s (ANP) MPA Shagufta Malik and another resolution was submitted on the request of PDA by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) MPA Nighat Orakzai.

“There is a severe shortage of doctors in the government hospitals. And we hope that the assembly will soon pass the bill to make all the contract doctors permanent,” he said.
