22 bodies recovered after barge sinks off Mumbai
A total of 22 bodies have been retrieved from the Arabian Sea after a barge was hit by Cyclone Tauktae on Monday and sank 35 nautical miles from Mumbai, officials said Wednesday.
A rescue operation is going to trace the missing people, with 188 have been rescued so far, according to the Indian Navy.
Navy spokesman Commander Mehul Karnaik told Anadolu Agency that 22 bodies had been recovered so far and rescue operation continues for the remaining personnel.
Tauktae that made landfall late Monday in the western state of Gujarat with wind gusts of up to 185 kilometers (115 miles) per hour, has left behind a trail of destruction.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday conducted an aerial survey of the Cyclone Tauktae affected areas of Gujarat and Diu.
