President Alvi, PM Imran urge nation to strictly comply with Covid-19 SOPs on Eid
President Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan, on the occasion of Eidul Fitr, urged the masses to strictly observe Covid-19 protocols to stem the spread of pandemic and show compassion towards the poor while celebrating the occasion.
In a separate message, the president greeted the nation as well as Muslims around the world on Eidul Fitr and prayed that the day brings plenty of pleasures and joys for all.
The prime minister, in his message, greeted the nation on the festival and thanked Allah for blessing with the holy month of Ramazan.
"The objective of making the believers pass through the exercise of patience and thankfulness is to realize others' sufferings and hunger as the compassion towards others is the real strength and identity of a human society," PM Imran said.
The premier further stated that the same feelings were also the characteristics of the State of Madina, which we follow as our role model and strive to develop a human-friendly society.
He further called for remembering those who have sacrificed their lives for a greater cause to bring pride to the nation.

"On the occasion of Eid, the prayers and wishes of the Pakistani nation are with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir," he said.
Prime Minister Imran said that it was vital for our people to observe Covid-19 SOPs as Pakistan was again beginning to control the spread of the pandemic.
The premier remarks came on Twitter on where he greeted Eid to all the Muslim community saying that this festival must be celebrated in a quiet manner.
The premier added that equally critical was the need for us to show solidarity with the Kashmiris and Palestinians who are suffering from oppression by occupation powers in complete violation of their international guaranteed basic human rights.
In a late-night announcement on May 12, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, which met in Islamabad, declared Eidul Fitr would be celebrated across the country on Thursday (today) as the Shawwal moon had been sighted.
After decades, Pakistani Muslims would observe the holy festival along with their brethren in the rest of the world including those in the Arab nations, the US, Canada and most Southeast Asian countries.
At around 11:30 pm, Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad, the committee’s chairman, made the announcement.
“The Shawwal moon has been sighted. Eid will be celebrated tomorrow [Thursday],” he said.
