Two ‘kidnappers’ killed, abductees rescued

The AVCC SP said that police are collecting the criminal record of the suspects and investigating the matter

The Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) and the Citizen Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) claimed on Tuesday to have recovered two abducted persons in a joint-operation in which three alleged kidnappers were killed in crossfire at their hideout in Laro Goth area of Manghopir early on Tuesday morning.

AVCC SP Abdullah Ahmed told the media that the suspects killed in encounter, Ali Gohar, Naukaf and Shafi Ullah belonged to an inter-provincial gang of kidnappers.

AVCC and CPLC in a joint operation have safely recovered Mohsin Marri and Zulfiqar Wasan who were kidnapped from the remits of SITE Super Highway police station on April 23.

The kidnappers had demanded ransom of Rs50 million.

Subsequently, SP Ahmed said that the investigation of the case was transferred to AVCC.

The cell constituted a team of competent officials who managed to track the kidnappers with the help of technical skills and human intelligence.

Eventually, the AVCC and CPLC team zeroed in on the hideout of the kidnappers and rescued Marri and Wassan, he said confirming that three kidnappers Ali Gauhar, Naukaf and Shafi Ullah were killed in the alleged encounter.

According to Ahmed, the slain suspects were wanted for a number of cases pertaining to kidnapping for ransom in Karachi, including the abduction of Abdul Jabbar in June 2020. The kidnappers had released Abdul Jabbar after receiving ransom and safely released him.

The AVCC SP said that police are collecting the criminal record of the suspects and investigating the matter.
