Fire breaks out on Civil Hospital’s roof
Piles of old documents, furniture and scrap lying on the roof of Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital were gutted as a fire broke out there on Monday. No casualties were reported in the incident.
Flames atop the hospital building caused panic among patients, attendants, healthcare workers and other people present on the premises. Eidgah Police Station personnel reached the spot and tried to clear the mob as a fire truck rolled in to control the blaze.
The inferno was brought under control in a short period of time, said Fire Officer Zafar Ahmed.
The cause of the fire could not be ascertained immediately.
Separately, the switch room of the Rizvia Imambargah in the Rizvia Society caught fire in the early hours of Monday. No casualties were reported in the incident. Initially the staff and volunteers present at the Imambargah tried to douse the flames, but called the fire brigade as it got out of control.
