Multan achieves 64% wheat target
Food department has so far procured 414,060 metric tonnes of wheat in Multan division, which is 64.8 per cent of the target of 638,507 tonnes.
The gunny bags for 515,809 tonnes have been distributed among wheat growers, which is 80.8% of the total target.
According to food department sources, the disbursement of the gunny bags and procurement of wheat on fixed price of Rs1,800 per maund is continuing in a transparent manner across the division. All facilities were being extended to wheat growers at the procurement centres, while implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) devised to check the spread of coronavirus is also being ensured.

So far, gunny bags for 82,730 metric tonnes, or 86.4% of the target has been completed in Lodhran with procurement of 75,937 tonnes of wheat. Gunny bags for 78,844 tonnes or 61.5 per cent of the target were distributed in Vehari and 59,672 tonnes of wheat procured.
Likewise, bags for 202,940 metric tonnes, which amounts to 88.2% of the target have been issued so far in Khanewal district where 147,201 tonnes of wheat has been procured. The wheat procurement drive would continue till achieving the target, officials of the department said.
