14 suspects rounded up in capital

The Islamabad police arrested 14 suspects, including four members of an inter-provincial gang of drug peddlers and recovered a huge quantity of narcotics and weapons from their possession, a spokesperson said on Friday.

According to details, SSP (Operations) Dr Syed Mustafa Tanveer has directed all zonal officers to accelerate their efforts to curb crime in the city.

Following these directions, City Zone SP Omer Khan constituted a special team under the supervision of DSP Raja Tahir Hussain, including SHO Secretariat police station Sub-Inspector Khuram Shahzad along with other officials, arrested four members of the gang, namely Hassan Haider, Nasir Hussain, Kashan Saleem, and Haseeb, and recovered 3.410 grammes of hashish from their possession.

Cases have been registered against the nabbed accused while further investigation is underway, the spokesperson shared. Meanwhile, the Industrial police arrested an accused named Muhammad Asif involved in snatching incidents on Srinagar Highway and IJP road while further investigation is underway.

The Industrial police also arrested two suspects and recovered 1,100 grammes of hashish and one pistol from their possession.

Moreover, Shahzad Town police arrested three suspects identified as Muhammad Hamza, Mumtaz and Faizan Ali and recovered 130 grammes of hashish, 110 grammes of heroine and one 30 bore pistol along with ammunition from their possession.

The Noon police arrested Waseem Khan and recovered a 30 bore pistol from his possession while Nilor police arrested an accused named Muhammad Pervez and also recovered a 30 bore pistol along with ammunition from him.

Furthermore, Khanna police arrested a suspect identified as Adnan Sohail and recovered 850 grammes of hashish from his possession while Tarnol police arrested two accused, Noor Din and Shaheen Khan, and recovered one 30 bore pistol and 550 grammes of heroine from their possession. Cases have been registered against the nabbed accused while further investigation is underway.

SSP Operations has directed all police officials to ensure effective security in the city and enhance checking around worship places.

He also ordered to improve patrolling plans and maintain high vigilance against anti-social elements.
