Marina Khan tests positive for Covid-19
Marina Khan is the latest celebrity to have contracted Covid-19. The celebrated star has taken to Instagram and posted a few videos in which she can be seen in high spirits.
"I have Covid-19," the Aulaad actor shared in a video. "This is me, my room and I am all alone for the next 14 days. I fought a lot, my friends would make fun of me now. I always had this idea of if it's meant to happen, it will. We'll deal with it at that time but when it really happens, that's when you realise [that it's very real]."
Khan went on to advise her fans and followers to not pay heed to hearsay and follow the SOPs strictly. "It's very real, it's out there. So far, I have fatigue but it's not as bad as earlier. Fever as well," she added. "Please look after yourselves. I shouldn’t have to dictate the necessary precautions we have to take to avoid Covid-19. I just have one thing to say: it’s Ramazan, it’s almost Eid. The fancy clothes, new clothes aren’t imperative. If you don’t wear new clothes one year, it’s not the end of the world.”
The Lollywood veteran added that the real essence of Eid is to be celebrated with loved ones. “Don’t go shopping in malls. Protect yourselves and others,” she said. “It is not as if it isn’t contagious. It’s everywhere, look around you.”
Khan went onto add how India is still battling the piling cases of Covid-19 in the country. “It’s devastating. I saw a BBC clip and reporting in India about the pandemic and I couldn’t believe it,” she said. “Can we all please pray for them. I have very few followers from the other side of the border but a lot of people who follow me here would have a massive fan following there. Please ask everyone to pray for India.”
In the 1980s and 1990s, Khan was one of the most sought-after stars in the country. She made her debut in a production about Nishan-e-Haider recipient Rashid Minhas and is now a household name.
Her roles in plays such as Tanhaiyan, Dhoop Kinarey and Nijaat highlighted her versatility as she could play a stoic heroine or a giggly prankster with incredible charm with equal ease. Khan was also a popular talk show host.
Previously, stars including Mahira Khan, Ali Rehman Khan, Ali Azmat, Ali Safina and Sanam Jung, alongside her daughter, had also tested positive for the virus.
