Over 400 medics yet to get Covid-19 jabs as third wave intensifies
The health department could not complete the vaccination of its health workers even after corona cases have surged sharply in the district of Dera Ghazi Khan.
More than 415 health workers were devoid of vaccinations due to which the nurses and their families were infected.
Sources said the health department could not complete the vaccination of frontline fighters, doctors and nurses fighting against coronavirus in Dera Ghazi Khan District, which is the hometown of Punjab Chief Minister and Punjab Health Advisor.
So far, 1,479 out of 1,894 have been given the first dose while 415 are yet to be vaccinated.
No emergency arrangements were made for them by the health department.
During the third wave, 642 people have been infected by Corona out of which 380 people recovered while 32 are in the intensive care unit and more than 300 are in isolation in their homes.
Dera Ghazi Khan district has also joined the list of districts with more than 10% cases. Ghulam Hassan, Mohammad Ghous, Zahida Bibi, Nusrat Mai and Mrs Sarwar were among those who died at the hospital in the last 24 hours.
The condition of three more patients is said to be critical. The medical ward has also been allotted as an isolation ward for Corona due to the increasing number of cases in the teaching hospital.
The positive corona cases' ratio is 38% in Khanewal, 32% in Okara, 24% in Sahiwal, 20% in Vehari, 23% in Lahore, 18% in Mianwali, 16% in Narowal, 15% in Multan, 14% in Faisalabad, 12% in Sargodha and 11 percent in Rawalpindi.
