Man booked for threatening police
The Memon Goth Police arrested on Monday a man for allegedly misbehaving and threatening officials of K-Electric and local police.
According to Malir SSP Irfan Bahadur, a video had gone viral on social media in which a man named Aftab Baloch was seen quarreling and threatening police officials in uniform.
A case was registered at Memon Goth Police Station on April 25, on behalf of a K Electric officer against Baloch and his accomplices for obstructing official work.
However, the matter turned worst when police went to arrest Baloch. Sub-Inspector (SI) Saeed stated that on April 24, he along with SI Muhammad Farooq, Constable Murshid and a driver, drove to agriculture farm near Miandad Goth in a private car with the arrest warrant issued by District and Session Court judge, and called Baloch. Baloch asked the police official to wait at the spot and told him the he would be there soon.
According to Saeed’s statement, a man arrived on the spot on a motorcycle at around 12:45 pm and 40 to 50 others, some of them were riding motorcycles, some were on a dumper truck and some on foot, accompanied him. The men were armed with rods and sticks, claimed SI Saeed, adding that the man on the motorcycle introduced himself as Baloch and grappled with him while abusing him and other officials.
Saeed said that Baloch kept provoking his accomplices to beat them and blocked the road with the dumper truck. Baloch threatened them and said that he will strip their uniform off their bodies.
Later, another video of Baloch surfaced in which he was seen apologising for his conduct.
However, a video apology would not be enough to get him out of the trouble he has caused for himself, police said.
