Coronavirus snuffs out 11 more lives in Sindh
Sindh recorded 11 Covid-19-related fatalities on Friday, the highest single-day death toll since the onset of the pandemic’s third wave, according to a statement issued by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on the day.
The rise in Covid-19 cases in Sindh is alarming, the CM said, adding that “We announce with heavy heart that 11 patients of Covid-19 died overnight, lifting the death toll to 4,587, constituting 1.7 per cent death rate.”

It is the highest single-day Covid related death count so far during the third wave of the pandemic, he added.
The surge in infections follows the emergence of the UK variant of the Covid-19 virus in Sindh.
CM Shah said 12,786 tests were conducted in the province overnight, which resulted in the detection of 855 cases, constituting a detection rate of 6.6 per cent. He added that so far, 3,537,283 tests had been conducted, against which eight per cent or 276,669 cases were detected.

The CM said 329 more coronavirus patients had recovered overnight in the province and so far, total 261,871 patients had recovered from the infection.
He said currently 10,211 patients were under treatment, with 9,716 in home isolation, nine in isolation centres and 486 in hospitals. PPI
