Power shortfall over 3000MW, loadshedding woes continue
As temperatures soar, the country is once again faced with unscheduled loadshedding with power shortfall standing over 300 megawatts.
Power generation is 13465 megawatts whereas demand stands at 16568 megawatts.
PEPCO officials say 550 megawatts are being supplied to the KESC.
Electricity generation from Hydel power plant is 4,864 MegaWatts, Thermal 2,471 MegaWatts, IPPs 6,064 MegaWatts and Rental power projects 66 MegaWatts.
Electricity supply of WASA disconnected
GAPCO has disconnected electricity supply to WASA due to non-payment of dues.
As a result, several areas of Gujranwala are without power and are facing a severe shortage of water.
Affected areas include Model Town, Janat Bibi Park, Chaman Shah, Peoples Colony, Sheranwala Bagh, Liaquat Bagh, PM Naushera Road, Mughalpura and Rajkot.
WASA owes GAPCO around Rs60 million rupees.
Speaking to Express News, MD WASA, Khalid Bashir Butt, said that payment worth Rs10 million will be made to GAPCO on Tuesday. He said the sewage system in the area will also stop working if power connection is not restored soon.
