Envoy for deepening trade ties

High commissioner appreciated the efforts of the Rawalpindi Chamber aimed at promoting trade activities

Bilateral trade relations between Pakistan and Sri Lanka could be strengthened in many areas including pharmaceutical, food, gems and jewellery, tourism and education, suggested Sri Lankan High Commissioner Mohan Wijewickrama. Talking to a delegation of the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) on Wednesday, he said that Sri Lanka had deep historical, cultural and trade ties with Pakistan and relations between the two countries deepened after Prime Minister Imran Khan visited Colombo in February this year. The high commissioner appreciated the efforts of the Rawalpindi Chamber aimed at promoting trade activities and added that the Sri Lankan embassy would provide all possible assistance to the chamber for the exchange of trade delegations. On the occasion, RCCI President Nasir Mirza highlighted the activities of the chamber and its future programmes. He emphasised that bilateral relations could be strengthened at the level of chamber of commerce.
