‘Scholarships open for all students’

CM says stipends to be awarded to meritorious as well as underprivileged applicants

LAHORE:

Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar on Sunday said that Rehmatulil Alameen Scholarships programme for supporting the bright and needy students of Punjab is being carried on successfully regardless of religion.

The chief minister said that the government is determined to breach the gulf of economic disparity between privileged and impecunious strata of the society according to the teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

Buzdar vowed that under the Rehmatulil Alameen Scholarship programme, the government will ensure transparency in distribution of stipends to deserving students.

He said that students can apply for scholarships through the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) web portal from their homes.

“Intermediate Rehmatulil Alameen Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of matriculation results, whereas undergraduate scholarships will be given on the basis of intermediate results.”

Under the head of intermediate scholarship, Rs25,000 will be paid to each recipient per annum, costing the government around Rs700 million a year.
