#BoycottDostana2: KJo accused of nepotism after Kartik Aaryan's exit

As per unconfirmed reports, Dharma Productions has supposedly decided not to collaborate with the actor in the future

In an unexpected turn of events, Karan Johar’s banner Dharma Productions on Friday evening posted an Instagram note to officially announce that actor Kartik Aaryan will no longer star in the upcoming sequel to Dostana.

“Due to professional circumstances, on which we have decided to maintain a dignified silence — we will be recasting Dostana 2, directed by Collin D’Cunha. Please wait for the official announcement soon,” read the statement.

Soon after Johar's production house dropped the official announcement, netizens on social media started slamming him and his banner for alleged nepotism. Some even compared Aaryan's position to that of late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, stating that he is being targeted for not being an industry insider's child, just like the Raabta star was.

Fans are also threatening to boycott Dostana 2. As per unconfirmed reports, differences reportedly emerged between the makers of the film and Aaryan, and Dharma Productions has supposedly decided not to collaborate with the actor in the future.

According to sources, the makers have lost around INR20 crore with Aaryan’s exit, since 20 days of the shoot were already completed and will now have to be re-shot with a new actor.

The insider said, “After 20 days of shooting, Kartik had issues with the script and felt that it was not okay,” adding that the actor was also not allotting dates to the project. Dostana 2 also stars actor Janhvi Kapoor.
