Punjab minister insists on provision of facilities to IT sector at business park

In line with the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan, all resources are being utilised for industrial development and elimination of unemployment in Pakistan, said Punjab Minister for Industries and Commerce Mian Aslam Iqbal.

He was chairing a meeting to review progress on development work at industrial estates under the Punjab Industrial Estates Development and Management Company (PIEDMC) on Friday.

The minister directed the authorities concerned to draft a comprehensive strategy for the construction of residential buildings for workers at the Quaid-e-Azam Business Park, Sheikhupura and provide facilities to the IT sector in the multipurpose business centre.

The minister expressed the desire to lay the foundation stone of the multipurpose business centre on May 1 and sought the final date for its completion.

 He ordered the participants to expedite development work at the Quaide-Azam Business Park, Bahawalpur Industrial Estate and also complete the construction of Rahim Yar Khan grid station as soon as possible.

He called for submitting a detailed plan with financial model for Pakistan’s first aqua park in Chunian. He also ordered the authorities to begin work on establishing an IT incubation centre in south Punjab.

“To facilitate industrialists in Punjab and promote establishment of industries, Special Economic Zones are being set up and investors will be offered tax exemption for 10 years,” he emphasised.

Speaking on the occasion, PIEDMC Chairman Syed Nabil Hashmi and CEO Ali Moazzam Syed briefed the provincial minister on the ongoing work in the industrial estates.

Hashmi said that PIEDMC was ensuring the quality and pace of development work in the industrial estates and a large number of industrialists were buying plots and setting up industrial units there.

The minister expressed satisfaction with the pace of development work at the industrial estates.

PIEDMC board members Arif Qasim, Tariq Siraj Jafari, General Manager Technical Farooq Johri, General Manager Coordination Omar Saeed and General Manager Business Development Amna Faisal Shah were also present in the meeting.
