Another 110 people succumb to Covid-19 in Pakistan

The country recorded 5,364 new cases of coronavirus with 8.31% positivity ratio during last 24 hours, says NCOC

Pakistan recorded a total of 5,364 new cases of coronavirus and 110 deaths in 24 hours, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) reported on Friday.

The death toll from pandemic has now reached 15,982 and positivity ratio during last 24 hours remained 8.31 per cent.

As many as 4,541 people have succumbed to the deadly contagion in Sindh, 7,271 in Punjab, 2,796 in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, 626 in Islamabad, 222 in Balochistan, 103 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 423 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Out of the total deaths, 104 patients died in hospitals, whereas the remainder of deaths occurred outside of hospitals. Moreover, as many as 509 patients were currently on ventilators across Pakistan.

A total of 745,182 cases of coronavirus have been detected in the country thus far with Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) having 15,137, Balochistan 20,662, Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) 5,163, Islamabad 68,665, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) 103,419, Punjab 261,173 and Sindh 270,963.

Moreover, the NCOC added that the majority of deaths were reported in Punjab, followed by K-P.

Currently, the total number of active Covid-19 cases across the country is 78,425. A total of 5,145 patients were admitted across Pakistan in about 630 hospitals with Covid-19 facilities.

Out of 509 ventilators occupied across the country, the highest number of ventilators were occupied in Gujranwala at 88 per cent occupancy, followed by Lahore at 81 per cent, Multan at 81 per cent and Islamabad at 50 per cent.

The NCOC further reported that the highest number of oxygen-bed occupancy in the country was in K-P’s Swabi district at 100 per cent, followed by Charsadda at 88 per cent, Gujranwala at 85 per cent and Peshawar at 77 per cent.

There were no patients on ventilators in G-B and Balochistan.

Around 64,481 Covid-19 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours out of which 12,982 were conducted in Sindh; 35,257 in Punjab; 7,739 in K-P; 5,968 in Islamabad; 951 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK); 1,019 in Balochistan and 565 in Gilgit Baltistan (GB).

About 650,775 people have so far recovered from the deadly virus across the country.
