The Special Investigation Unit of police arrested on Wednesday three suspects, wanted in various cases of robbing people inside booths of automated teller machines (ATM).
SIU officials arrested a suspect, Hazrat Jan, and claimed to have found illegal weapons in him following a raid in Pirabad. The officials said Jan was on the run in various cases of armed robberies and snatching.
According to SIU officials, Jan confessed during interrogation to looting citizens outside banks and ATM booths and other incidents of theft. They said Jan had named Murad, Sulaiman, Naeem Gul and Sher Muhammad Sheru as his accomplices.
Jan also shot and injured a citizen over resisting a robbery bid and has been booked in two cases registered at Mominabad Police Station, SIU officials said.
Separately, SIU officials, said that two suspects, Muhammad Naeem and Abdul Basit, were arrested during an operation in Mawach Goth and illegal weapons were seized from them. The SIU has booked them in an illegal weapons case. Officials said the arrested suspects had been involved in multiple incidents of street crime.
