A man allegedly shot himself in Khurrianwala on Monday after his exwife got married again. He was rushed to a hospital for medical treatment. According to the police report, SubInspector Shaukat Ali stated that 29-year-old Muhammad Hasnain Iqbal, a resident of Chak No. 503 GB, was married to Sana Bibi, a resident of the same village. A few days ago, Sana Bibi took divorce and was living at her parents’ house. Now her family married her off to someone else. As a result, her ex-husband Mohammad Hasnain lost his temper and reportedly shot himself in the chest with a 30-bore pistol, injuring himself. The injured Hasnain was shifted to Allied Hospital after first aid, where his condition is said to be critical. In another incident last week on Saturday, an 18-year-old girl jumped into a canal and committed suicide in Khurrianwala. According to the police report, the girl had married by her choice but got divorced 15 days earlier. Rescue 1122 teams conducted a search operation to find the body. A letter was found from her house in which she had apologised to her parents.
According to sources, Abira Parveen, 18-year-old daughter of Mushtaq Ahmed, a resident of Chak No. 115 GB, a village on Juranwala Road, got married with a boy of the village a month ago without the consent of her parents. Around fifteen days ago, she got divorced due to domestic violence and came to her parents’ house. She was allegedly being taunted upon which she got frustrated, as a result of which she jumped into the Gogira branch in the morning. Seeing her shoes lying on the bank of the canal, passers-by informed Rescue 1122. According to Rescue 1122 sources, the girl jumped into the canal due to family members’ taunts. A letter has been found from her house in which she apologised to her parents. “I am jumping into the canal to be punished for my mistakes,” she reportedly wrote. Earlier this year on March 20, a middle-aged man committed suicide after killing his cousin, a student of BA, for refusing to marry him. Police took both the bodies into their custody and shifted them to the hospital for autopsy. Police said 40-year-old Ishaq Muhammad, a resident of Pindi Bhattian, had been visiting his relative Abbas’s house for seven months. During this time, the suspect developed a relationship with Abbas’s 24-year-old daughter, a BA student. He persuaded her to marry him. Meanwhile, the victim’s family arranged her wedding in a nearby village of Mitranwali on March 27. On Friday afternoon, Ishaq Muhammad came to his cousin Mudassira Bibi’s house with a gun. He asked her to elope with him, but she refused. In a fit of rage, the suspect shot the girl and later committed suicide with the same gun. DSP Nishatabad Fayyaz Ehsan, SHO Sahiyanwala Sub-Inspector Asif Nadeem Butt rushed to the spot. They took possession of both the bodies and shifted them to the hospital for postmortem. Police said the suspect was already married and he has divorced his wife. Any legal action will be taken on the complaint
