Couple murdered in ‘honour killing’ incident

Cops lodge FIR, arrest four suspects

HYDERABAD:

A couple was killed allegedly for honour in Jam Nawaz Ali taluka of Sanghar district, Sindh on Sunday.

The assailants have also allegedly kidnapped a brother of the slain man. The police identified the deceased as 40-year-old Deela Magsi and 35-year-old Allah Bachayo Magsi.

The bereaved family blocked the road connecting Sanghar with Naushehro Feroze district in protest by placing the bodies of the deceased on the road. The sit-in continued for six hours until the police registered an FIR and rounded up four suspects.

Khairuddin Magsi, father of Allah Bachayo, blamed Qadir Bux Magsi for the killings and the kidnapping of his son, Gulsher Magsi. "The killers are threatening us not to register the FIR or they will kill my other son," he told the media.

According to him, the couple shifted to Karachi after solemnising marriage in order to save their lives as the woman's family had not consented to the marriage. However, Qadir Bux, through a jirga, forced the murdered woman to return.

An FIR pertaining to the murders and the kidnapping has been lodged at Nauabad Police Station on the complaint of Sabhagi Magsi. She has nominated six persons including Qadir Bux, Abdul Aziz Magsi and Shafi Muhammad Magsi.

The deceased were shifted to the taluka hospital for postmortem. The police claim that they have detained four suspects after a raid at Majnu Magsi village. The prime suspect, Qadir Bux, is still at large.
