‘Super feeder to ease twin cities water shortage’

SAPM inaugurates project for constant electricity supply to tube wells

ISLAMABAD:

Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Capital Development Authority Affairs Ali Nawaz Awan inaugurated a dedicated super feeder the other day for tube wells at Pona Faqeera, to ensure uninterrupted water supply to multiple sectors of Islamabad.

After the inauguration, speaking to media he said that the dedicated feeder was meant to provide constant electricity supply to tube wells at Pona Faqeera which would eventually ensure round-the-clock availability of water for residents of different sectors of Islamabad including G-11, I-9 and I-10.

He said earlier the people of these sectors were facing a severe water shortage which would worsen in summer and the holy month of Ramazan, he added.

The SAPM said the government was striving to resolve water problems faced by the people of Rawalpindi and Islamabad on a permanent basis. He said two million gallons of water daily is supplied to Islamabad from Rawal Dam was restored recently, whereas work on bringing 100 MGD water for Islamabad from Ghazi Brotha Dam was started.

“Water is one of the biggest problems of Islamabad and we are trying our best to resolve this issue,” he maintained.

‘No one above the law’

To a query, the SAPM said the inquiry against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's senior leader Jehangir Khan Tareen was an example for other political parties. He said no one was above the law in Naya Pakistan.

"This is the change the PTI has strived for almost 24 years," he said, adding that some elements seemed perturbed by the action taken against Jehangir Tareen. He added that the PTI had a track record of taking action even against its own people, citing Aleem Khan as an example who remained in the custody of the National Accountability Bureau.

Taking a swipe over Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, for his statement in which he said that the opposition parties' en-mass resignations would prove an atom bomb for the PTI government, the SAPM said this bomb had devastated the Pakistan Democratic Movement.
