Police on Friday registered a murder case against a man for allegedly killing his wife in the precincts of Racecourse police station.
The police were informed by Ali Asghar that his sister Zahida Parveen had been married to Abdul Hameed who earned a livelihood by driving a rickshaw. The couple had no children. The complainant received a call from his brother-in-law who told him that Parveen had died in the morning due to low sugar levels.
When the body was being bathed for the funeral service, the woman performing the procedure told the family about finger marks on Parveen’s neck, suggesting the woman had been strangled to death.
Therefore, the victim’s family delayed the funeral and brought the body to the district headquarters (DHQ) hospital in Rawalpindi for a post-mortem examination.
