Against devolution: JPMC staff goes on strike
JPMC went on strike on Thursday over frustration with the institution’s post-devolution status.

Staffers of the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) went on strike on Thursday over frustration with the institution’s post-devolution status. Wards, out-patient departments as well as the emergency remained closed from 8am to about 2:30pm. Staffers walked from JPMC to Shahrae Faisal where they staged a brief sit-in at about 11am before passing the nearby National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases and National Institute of Child Health to end the protest in front of the Jinnah administration block. The institution’s main gate was closed all morning. However, patients already admitted were attended to by some staffers.
