Associations postpone ‘Save Education’ march

March was postponed after talks with Islamabad administration

ISLAMABAD:

Private school and college associations postponed their nationwide ‘Save Education’ long march after negotiations with the Islamabad administration.

All Pakistan Private Schools Federation (APPSF) President Kashif Mirza, All Pakistan Private Schools Colleges Association (APPSCA) President Malik Abrar Hussain, All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajiran (APAT) President Ajmal Baloch, APAT Secretary-General Muhammad Naeem Mir, and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Private School Federation President Gul Nabi Khan, among others, held a joint press conference in the federal capital on Tuesday.

The representative organisations of private educational institutions across the country, civil society, and businessmen had demanded that as per the government announcement, educational institutions across the country should be allowed to open on April 11 under the strict implementation of anti-Covid standard operating procedures (SOPs). Otherwise, they stated, there will be a nationwide long march on April 8.

He said that in the protest in front of the National Press Club on March 26, the private schools’ bodies had announced that they would hold a long march on March 31 (today). However, after talks with the Islamabad administration on Monday, a meeting of all associations was held on Tuesday wherein it was decided to postpone the march.
