There are a handful of veteran actors in Pakistan who have many a colorful feather in their hats. But not one of them has as many colours as Sakina Samo, an established actor first and now, an accomplished film-maker.

The journey from acting in Dewarain to directing an acclaimed serial like Mohabbat Subh Ka Sitara Hai has listed her among the legends of Pakistani entertainment. Not just that, she has been duly recognised by the government with a Tamgha-e-Imtiaz first and a Pride of Performance last week.

Now, the actor-turned-film-maker has announced another venture. Taking to social media, Samo shared that her new film will feature Sheheryar Munawar and Humaima Malick in lead roles.

"By the grace of Allah, I am able to announce some details about my next film," the celebrated star shared on Instagram. "I am so pleased to say Sheheryar Munawar Siddiqui and Asad Siddiqui are confirmed cast members. Here is our leading lady, the talented Humaima Malik.”

She went on, “I’m humbled and proud to be directing a story set in interior Sindh. All I can say at this point is it’s a love story inspired by true events and characters. It’s a script that I’ve been mulling over for decades. Finally, I’ve put pen to paper!"

Like last year, Samo was awarded the Pride of Performance this year as well. “The journey towards the highest civil honour has not been very easy,” Samo shared with The Express Tribune. “It took me 40 years to get recognised on this level but I do think nothing is stopping women from getting lauded by the govt if they have served their country well.”
