‘Private schools cannot bear more closures’

The Supreme Council of All Pakistan Private Schools and Colleges Associations (APPSCA) on Sunday expressed serious concerns about the closure of educational institutions under the current situation.
The government has ordered systematic closure of educational institutions to prevent spread of the novel coronavirus disease (Covid-19) but the private sector schools and colleges wanted to stay open.
The association said it was considering different options, including protests and blocking roads, to exert pressure on the government. An urgently called meeting of APPSCA Supreme Council of All Pakistan Private Schools and Colleges Associations was held under the chairmanship of Nasir Mehmood and Malik Azhar on Sunday.
The participants mulled on different options to pressurize the government as they expressed concerns of the closure of educational institutions amid the third wave of coronavirus. They considered staging a large-scale protest with the management, teachers, staff, parents, and civil society. Further, a meeting to shape strategy for setting up mobile classes for students at different places has been summoned on April 1 in Islamabad which would be chaired by Zafran Elahi.
