BAJAUR:

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazal (JUI-F) leader Maulana Abdul Salam was seriously injured in a remote controlled bomb blast in the Dama Dola area of Tehsil Mamond in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bajaur tribal district Thursday.

Talking to The Express Tribune police officials said that Maulana Salam was going to his madrassah early in the morning when he came under roadside bomb attack. Police believed that a remote controlled explosive device had been planted by the roadside and he was the target.

The injured was rushed to the Khar hospital but later ferried to Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) Peshawar for further treatment.

It is worth mentioning here that for some time tribal elders are being targeted through remote-controlled bombs in the district as earlier on February 27, a local influential elder Malik Yar Khan was attacked in a similar fashion in Barang Tehsil in which he and his police guard constable Hakim were seriously injured.

Police registered an FIR in the case and opened investigation. This attack was claimed by ISIS-Khurasan but police investigations are still ongoing.

A week earlier another local tribal elder Malik Lal Said was killed in a roadside bomb attack in the same tehsil Barang.
