The All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajiran (APAT) and the Islamabad Traders Action Committee have demanded of the authorities to develop all damaged roads of Sector I-11.
APAT President Ajmal Baloch, Secretary Khalid Chaudhry, and Sector I-11 Traders Association President Afsar Khan maintained that hundreds of trucks come to the industrial area in Sector I every day, but the roads are dilapidated. Ruts have appeared in the roads due to the flow of heavy traffic, but the authorities have yet to carry out any repairs, they said in a statement issued the other day.
They demanded of Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Amer Ahmad Ali, Islamabad Deputy Commissioner (DC) Hamza Shafqaat and Market Committee Administrator Kamran Cheema to bring the CDA and the Islamabad Capital Territory Administration (ICTA) on one page for the development work in the sector.
They said that the market committee had issued licences to the pushcart vendors, which had affected the flow of traffic. They added that the CDA was of the view that after the formation of the market committee, it was not responsible for the development work.
The roads in Sector I-11/3 are severely damaged that no heavy vehicle can pass through it and the market contractor is also charging an entry fee for vehicles parked outside the boundaries, the traders deplored.
