RAWALPINDI:

The Rawalpindi police issued a ‘Calendar 2021’ on Thursday in order to pay homage to the martyrs of the district police and acknowledge their sacrifices rendered in line of the duty.

According to a police spokesman, the Rawalpindi district police, on the directives of City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi Muhammad Ahsan Younas, has taken several steps to remember the sacrifices of the police personnel.

In his message, the CPO said great nations always remember their martyrs and feel proud of their sacrifices.

He said nearly 111 martyrs of Rawalpindi district police had rendered the supreme sacrifices of their lives in the line of duty and to protect the lives of the citizens and their properties.

He said the names of the martyrs are being written in golden words into the pages of history. The police have launched different projects in the names of the martyrs aimed at paying homage to them, he added.

The CPO said portraits of the martyrs were displayed on the boundary wall of the police headquarters so that the citizens could have knowledge about the sacrifices of the officials of the police who laid down their lives and pay tribute to their commitment and sacrifice. “We are proud of our martyrs and members and they are our heroes,” he stated.

Visit to martyr’s house

Rawalpindi division police chief DIG Imran Ahmar visited the house of martyred traffic warden Naveed Khan in Katarian village and met with his family to express condolences.

Naveed was shot dead by a suspect during an encounter at a police picket earlier this month. RPO Imran Ahmar was accompanied by Rawalpindi City Police Officer (CPO) Ahsan Younas and City Traffic Officer (CTO) Rai Mazhar Iqbal.

The officers visited the grave of the martyred warden and also met aggrieved family members.

The RPO said that all officers of the Rawalpindi police are with the family of the martyr in their hour of grief.

Ahmer assured that the police department would take special care of the education and welfare of martyr’s children.
