Two arrested for ‘killing cop’

They were arrested in an intelligence-based operation carried out on Moulvi Tamizuddin Road in Sultanabad

The Karachi Counter Terrorism Department's (CTD) Civil Lines Police claimed on Monday to have arrested two men involved in the killing of a police official.

The suspects, identified as Hameedullah alias Chura and Faizullah alias Sir, were arrested in an intelligence-based operation carried out on Moulvi Tamizuddin Road in Sultanabad.

CTD In-charge Raja Umar Khattab said the arrested suspects shot dead police constable Sheeraz Khan, in the limits of Mominabad Police Station on February 18, 2021. He added the two men were involved in over 20 robberies and other street crimes.

He claimed that the suspects, Hameedullah and Faizullah, confessed to being part of a gang headed by a man named Raheem alias Pasha during interrogation. The CTD official added that Raheem had previously been arrested in several cases.

Khattab further said that four members of the gang, including Raheem, Hameedullah, Ahmed Khan and Karimullah alias Qari, had snatched Rs5 million from the manager of Madni Industry outside the company's office in Rasheedabad on December 2, 2020.

According to Khattab, the deceased constable was engaged in efforts to arrest the gang members after identifying them with the help of the CCTV footage of the incident and the arrested suspects plotted a plan to kill him before they could be arrested.
