ISLAMABAD:

Ruling PTI Senator Shibli Faraz slammed JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman over his “irresponsible remarks” regarding coronavirus vaccine.

A day earlier, Fazl while wishing the premier quick recovery from Covid-19 raised doubts over his illness.

“Despite receiving vaccine, he [PM Imran] contracted coronavirus either vaccine is fraud or coronavirus is fraud,” he said, adding that the premier fell ill ahead of foreign funding case hearing in the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

Shibli while addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Sunday urged the JUI-F chief and other opposition leaders to refrain from spreading false information regarding coronavirus vaccine.

“Prime Minister Imran Khan and first lady had contracted coronavirus, and we all pray for the good health of the first couple,” he said.

He urged the nation to observe standard operating procedures (SOPs) to fight the third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, which seemed more dangerous. “It is not correct to say that the prime minister had contracted the virus after getting the jab of coronavirus vaccine.”

Dispelling the rumours about the effectiveness of vaccine, Shibli urged the people to get themselves vaccinated against the deadly virus.

He said that the government is making efforts to save the lives and livelihood of the people during the third wave.

The senator also criticised Fazl announcement that workers of opposition alliance Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) will accompany Maryam Nawaz during her hearing at the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on March 26.

He said the opposition movement against government has badly failed as it had failed to mobilise the masses.

He termed the PDM a story of the past. "t is being led by politically immature leaders."

“PDM leaders are fighting for their own personal interests rather than for the welfare of the public,” he said, adding that Maryam is pursuing “disastrous egoistic and stubborn politics which has ruined the PML-N”.
