Celebratory fire kills drum beater

A drum beater was killed reportedly by a rebounding bullet during aerial firing at a wedding function in the precincts of Jaatli police station. According to the police, traditional drum beaters Ghulam Shabbir, Irfan and Tanveer were performing at Muhammad Owais's mehndi function. Tanveer told the police that as soon as they started playing, Muneeb, Owais, Muhammad Ali, Akhtar and others started firing in the air. The villagers tried to stop them but to no avail. He told the police that Muhammad Ali started firing from a rifle and one of the bullets ricocheted and struck Shabbir’s head owing to which he got injured and collapsed. The drum beater was rushed to the hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his wounds. Meanwhile, the suspects have gone into hiding. The Jaatli police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
