Wounded woman ‘refused marriage proposal’

A woman was shot and injured in Baldia Town area on Monday allegedly after she rejected a marriage proposal.

The firing incident took place in the limits of Saeedabad Police Station.

According to police, the woman, identified as 50-year-old Kiran Naz, was shifted to Dr. Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital with four bullet wounds in different parts of her body.

The police said that the prime suspect, identified as Wasim alias Babar, wanted to marry the woman and opened fire at her when she turned him down.

The suspect, who works at a cattle farm, managed to escape after committing the crime, the police added.

The cops found the spent bullet casings from the crime scene and have sent them for ballistic testing after lodging a case against Wasim.

Separately, the police claimed to have arrested a drug peddler in a raid in Baloch Colony.

The police claimed to have found gutka and mawa in the possession of the arrested suspect, identified as Muhammad Ahmed.

According to police, Ahmed sold contraband in connivance with some police officials.

Action will be taken against the elements involved, added the police.
